Jack Benny Recreational Hockey League

League Information

The Jack Benny Recreational Hockey League (JBRHL) has existed in the City of Red Deer for over 25 years and is classified as an adult recreational no-hit hockey league.  The majority of players are individuals that played minor hockey growing up and just want to continue playing the game.  The minimum age is 18, the majority of players are late 20's to early 30's.

Each season there are 4 - 6 teams with 17 skaters and 1 goalie on each team.  Players register as individuals and are placed on a team based on their responses to prompts when they register.  The prompts include: position, commitment level and experience level.  You are also able to list the name of one player that you'd prefer to be on the same team as, however, there is no guarantee that it will be fulfilled.  

The games are played at the Kinsmen Arena (Surface A & B) located in the Morrisroe subdivision of Red Deer.  Each team plays 1 game per week for a total of approx. 20 regular season league games.  Tuesdays game times are 9:30pm & 10:15pm.  Thursdays game time is 9:45pm.  Games are 1 hour in length.  The regular season will begin the first week in October and double elimination play-offs take place in March.

There are 2 referees for each game.  Each player is provided with a jersey for the season which they'll receive at their first game.

Full CSA approved equipment is required.  Cages / visors and mouth guards are optional, however, if a player is not wearing both of these at the time of a facial / dental injury our league insurance can't be utilized by the player for that facial / dental injury.

Registration Information

Based on 6 teams, there are 102 skaters (forward / defense) spots that have historically filled up by the middle of September.  Goalies (6 spots) can only register through the League Coordinator and the previous season's goalies have priority.  There is no deadline to register, once the league is full (102 skaters & 6 goalies) is essentially the deadline.

The league utilizes an online registration system through RAMP Interactive (except goalies, please contact the League Coordinator).  Listed below is the link for registering for the upcoming season.

Credit card is the only accepted form of payment, the registration fee is $405.00.
