RULES AND REGULATIONS - Scugog Men's Hockey League

 

C.A.H.A. RULES APPLY

 

  1. C.A.H.A. approved helmets and full equipment are mandatory

  2. Each team will dress a maximum of 14 players.

  3. All members of SMHL shall wear their appointed sweaters and socks during league games.

    1. Goalie Jersey can be used but goalie must wear spare SHL Jersey

    2. Reps keep extra pair of socks in bag

  4. All lost Sweaters will be paid for by the member issued. The SMHL shall be reimbursed full replacement value.

  5. All league members must meet the minimum age requirement set by the current League insurance provider.

  6. Any member losing his helmet during play must stop and replace helmet on head, or proceed directly to his team’s bench, or be subject to a minor penalty.

  7. FIGHTING will not be tolerated. Executive review may lead to dismissal from the league.

  8. No monies will be reimbursed to any member during suspensions.

  9. No player is subject to serve another player’s penalty. In order to continue play after penalty has expired, a player must resume play from his own penalty box.

  10. Each game will have three 12-minute STOP time periods.

  11. Icing the puck is only from inside your own blue line.

  12. Glove pass is only permitted in your own defensive zone.

  13. Should discussion be necessary during game only team rep or designate may approach the official, Team Rep to select alternate

  14. A Team Rep will be responsible to the league executive.

  15. Dressing rooms must be vacated 30 minutes after each game.  Team Rep’s responsible to enforce.

  16. Slap Shots are not permitted; stick must not raise higher than the knee.

  17. High-Sticking the puck, will result in a stoppage of play.

  18. Any player receiving 6 minutes in penalties or more will be suspended for the next regular season game.

  19. Short term sabbatical; Players will be allowed to request a short term leave from the league (“10 week rule” (to a minimum of 5 games) any request less than 10 weeks results in no player refund, player must notify Rep. of any requested leave.

 

PENALTIES:

 

MINOR PENALTY: 2 Minutes
MAJOR PENALTY: 5 Minutes

 

  1. A Major penalty in the 1st or 2nd period is an automatic ejection from the game.

  2. A Major penalty in the 3rd period an automatic ejection from the game, plus the next scheduled game.

  3. A player receiving a major and minor penalty (7 minutes) in the first two periods will be ejected from the game plus the next scheduled game.

  4. Any Major penalty considered to be a deliberate intent to injure or a detriment to the league, will be reviewed by the league executive and may result in an additional suspension or dismissal from the league.

  5. Referees will have the discretion of giving a double minor (4 minutes) for an “accidental” high stick

 

SUSPENSIONS AND EXPULSIONS:

 

A player receiving a total of 6 minutes or more in a game will be ejected from that game and receive an additional one game suspension.

Any suspension related infractions will be reviewed by the League Executive and further action may be taken, which could lead to additional suspensions or dismissal from the league.

Any incident may be reviewed by the Executive, whether an infraction is called or not.

Any conduct detrimental to the league, including but not limited to harassment, intimidating behaviour, verbal abuse of players or officials, threats, violent or obnoxious behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in expulsion from the SHL.

 

MISCONDUCT PENALTY:

 

10 Minutes - 3rd period, player must leave the ice.

Two (2) Misconducts - 1st or 2nd period, present game, plus next scheduled game

Two (2) Misconducts, 3rd period, automatic ejection from the game, plus 2 game suspension plus review by League Executive.

 

GAME MISCONDUCT: (GM)

 

First or second period –present game, third period – present game plus next game.

 

GROSS MISCONDUCT:

Ejection from game, plus 2 game suspension.

 

MATCH MISCONDUCT:

Ejection from game, plus an additional suspension from play, as determined by the League Executive.

 

SUSPENDED GOALIE:

A Goalie from the next or previous game will be asked to play. The game will continue uninterrupted.

 

SUSPENDED PLAYER:

Any player suspended for 10 games or more, will be temporarily replaced by a player from the spare list.

Smoking in the facility is prohibited. Any player found smoking will be suspended for a period at the discretion of the League Executive.

 

These RULES AND REGULATIONS will be ENFORCED by the SMHL LEAGUE EXECUTIVE.
